Winter Men's Retreat 2011
The Art of Sinless Anger: Anger Management and Prayer
The 2011 Men’s Retreat took place on Friday, January 7th and Saturday, September 8th. Around 45 men of CRC(Christ Redeemer Church) joined over 90 men from Christ Memorial Church and other churches at Singing Hills Conference Center in Plainfield, New Hampshire.
On Friday night, Pastor Don Willeman spoke on “The Anatomy of Anger.” On Saturday morning, Pastor Wes Pastor spoke in two sessions on “Preventing Sinful Anger” and “Processing Sinful Anger.” You can find links for the recordings of these talks at the bottom of the page.

Here are a few comments from men who were at the retreat:
“It was a wonderful opportunity to gather with men who are engaged with what the Gospel has to say for their lives and are allowing it to change them.”
“I’d like to say I’m a person who doesn’t struggle with anger, but I do. I was reminded that I’m a sinner in need of God’s grace.”
“At the heart of anger is me in my sin, trying to step into God’s role and create my own kingdom. When my kingdom is threatened by others, I react in anger. The Gospel tells me I no longer have to be my own king, and that God has saved me from my sin.”
“Coming under the Lordship of Christ means that I need to be a humble servant as I interact with my family.”
“I appreciate the realness of Pastor Don and Pastor Wes. They were up front with their own struggles like ours. They gave practical application of these principles for our lives.”
“I realized that anger comes from the way we view ourselves. We can’t practice true compassion until we have a correct view of God and His view of us.”

In addition to the teaching time the men enjoyed worshiping, late-night fellowship, and shared meals. After lunch on Saturday there was a rematch of last year’s CRC vs CMC snow football game. This year CRC took the prize. The men also went home with a copy of “The Measure of a Man” by Gene Getz to encourage them in their continued growth as godly men.
The men enjoyed a weekend of good teaching, good fellowship, and fun. Thanks to Jason Achmoody for organizing the retreat and for Pastors Don Willeman and Wes Pastor for bringing such a powerful message.
